Information and cyber security landscape
Mr CHAN Chun-ying noted that, compared with 2016, the number of computer security incidents handled by the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (“HKCERT”) had decreased except for incidents related to malicious software attack. He queried the reasons for the decline.
Deputy Government Chief Information Officer (Infrastructure and Operations) (“DGCIO”) replied that the decrease in the number of computer security incidents handled by HKCERT (except malicious software and botnet incidents) was due to an increase in users’ awareness and adoption of preventive measures following the enhanced promotion and publicity efforts implemented by the Administration and HKCERT.
