US for S responded that banks were very cooperative with the Police in the interception of payments.
Mr CHAN Chun-ying asked whether publicity and education were tailored for different target groups, such as the youth, seniors, females and new arrivals from the Mainland, for different types of deception. US for S replied in the affirmative.
Interception of payment from victims
Referring to paragraph 5 of the Administration’s paper, Mr CHAN Chun-ying sought information on the type of deception cases in which payment to fraudsters had a higher chance of being intercepted. US for S responded that payment in deception cases that were reported to the Police within 24 hours had a higher chance of being intercepted.
